Duckling: George & Company

We had 8 Ducklings who came in after they were found wandering around with no mum in sight. We did not want to leave them on their own

for much longer without mum, so told the lovely guys who found them to bring them into us.

We added another Duckling who didn't have quite such a straight forward rescue. He was on a pond with lots of other ducks trying to attack him! The only way to get George out was to brave the water - which is exactly what we did. We have never seen such an acrobatic Duckling! George was darting here and diving there and it took a while to actually manage to catch him.

A very cold and very wet rescue which ended successfully and George now has some friends who are a little friendlier than the ones he was accustomed to.

OUTCOME:

These 9 have now been moved to Swan Support where they can go in specialised outside runs which will then open up for them to be released onto a large pond there. We have sent many of our waterbirds here over the last few months as our runs are completely full and these guys will give them the best chance possible. We wish them all luck!
