Dove: Meep & Peep

Meep & Peep came in after some building work disturbed their parents to the point where they stopped coming back. This is unfortunately

all too common and is devastating as they are much better off with mum. The fantastic guys that saw the damaged nest, popped them in a box and put them back for mum. Sadly, when mum never returned they brought them into us as they feared they may not make it if they were left any longer.

It is a great shame that their nest was disturbed by building work, but we see this all year round. We always urge people to please be aware when carrying out work during baby bird season and to perhaps, push the work back until after babies have fledged. Sadly, the majority of people will continue, regardless of the wildlife they harm along the way.

They are very healthy little squabs and we have no doubt that they will continue to thrive. They are already starting to peck at their food, so we are working on weaning at the moment.

OUTCOME:

Meep & Peep were released on site from one of our outdoor aviaries. They went out with another Dove who was slightly older than them so was able to show them the ropes before their final release to the big, wide world!
