Legacy
Help us to secure the future for wildlife like this by remembering "Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue"
Please Help us to Help them!
Making a will is easy and yet many people die without having made any provision for the distribution of their assets in a properly drafted will.
The burden of sorting out your affairs then falls to your family to take on this difficult task at their time of bereavement.
It makes sense to make a will – you decide exactly how you want your property to be allocated after your death and this can prevent it being taken over by the State.
Your solicitors can assist you to make your Will. If you are planning to make a bequest to "Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue" and are using a pre-printed Will Form available from a stationer then you may like to use the wording set out below. A codicil witnessed by two people is all this is needed to add a bequest to an existing Will.
If you would like any further information or advice please speak to us. Most of us enjoy the British countryside and catching glimpses of our native wildlife in its natural surroundings. Sadly, many wild birds and other animals become the victims of man-made hazards such as road traffic, poisons, litter or pollution. Disease, illness or encounters with natural predators also account for many of Britain’s estimated five million wildlife casualties each year – some 1,400 find their way to "Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue" each year.
The wealth of expertise and knowledge in the care of a wide range of species is now being shared through our talks with our next generation within their schools.
We help the individual animals brought to us every day and care for all wildlife. For this work to grow and thrive, we need your legacy to help forge a secure future for wild birds and other animals. Please think about ensuring the future and help us help them by including a bequest to "Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue."
Knowing about bequests in advance allows us to plan for the future and to take our work to a wider audience through programmes of training and education.
Wording your Bequest
If you would like to remember "Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue" in your Will there are two ways of making a bequest. One is to leave a legacy of money, but it is worth remembering that with inflation a legacy diminishes in value. By including the words “index linked” after the stated amount, your legacy is protected from the effects of inflation.
The following wording, included in a Will, makes this clear:
Residual Gift:
This is a percentage, or all, of what is left over after all your other expenses have been paid.
"I give a _______ % share of the residue of my estate to not hereby or by any Codicil hereto otherwise disposed of subject to payment of my funeral and testamentary to "Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue." Marlborough House, Augustus gardens, Camberley, Surrey, GU15 1HL. for the general purposes of "Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue" and I direct that the receipt of the person who professes to be the Hon Treasurer or other proper officer of "Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue" for the time being shall be a sufficient discharge for the same.”
Pecuniary Gift:
This is a gift of a specific sum of money.
"I give the sum of _______ pounds free of duty to "Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue," Marlborough House, Augustus Gardens, Camberley, Surrey, GU15 1HL for the general purpose of "Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue" and I direct that the receipt of the person who professes to be the Hon Treasurer or other proper officer of "Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue" for the time being shall be a sufficient discharge for the same.
Specific Gift:
This is an item of value, such as a home
"I give _(name item)_ not hereby or by any Codicil hereto otherwise disposed of subject to payment of my funeral and testamentary to "Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue" for the general purposes of "Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue" and I direct that the receipt of the person who professes to be the Hon Treasurer or other proper officer of "Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue" for the time being shall be a sufficient discharge for the same.”
If you have already made a will and wish to make a small alteration or leave an additional legacy, you can do this by making a short supplementary will called a Codicil. It is important though that solicitor helps you with this, to ensure compliance with legal formalities.
If you do decide to leave a gift to the "Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue" or have already included "Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue" in your will, we would be very grateful if you could inform us of your intentions.

As well as working on the front line we give talks and show our stunning wildlife to a variety of groups and schools - Wildlife Rocks Me Talks. We believe that a better understanding of these creatures will promote not only tolerance but a willingness to integrate them into our lives.
Children will become the custodians of our planet and we hope, through our talks, will have a better understanding of and take an interest in our wonderful wildlife as they take on that ultimate role.
We raise funds by donations, our newsletter, attending County Shows, Car boot sales, selling on eBay, Fairs, and our shop.

why we do it
Once upon a time, there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work.
One day, as he was walking along the shore, he looked down the beach and saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself at the thought of someone who would dance on the beach, and so he walked faster to catch up.
As he got closer, he noticed that the figure was that of a young man, and that what he was doing was not dancing at all. The young man was reaching down to the shore, picking up small objects, and throwing them into the ocean READ MORE

How we started
Whilst out walking with my dog in the early 1980's I found a small hedgehog stuck in a fence. He was too fat to go through and his prickles wouldn't let him go back.
He had been pushing so long in an attempt to free himself that the wire had cut into his body and his leg was bleeding where he had pushed and pushed against the ground. I had in my handbag a pair of pliers (no surprise to anyone who knows me) I cut the wire and removed the hedgehog READ MORE
